Flower beds and borders contain a variety of plants and shrubs that have been planted in an orderly manner to allow you to make the most of your garden.
Ideally you want to have a fusion of colours over the year. This requires careful planning and we at Utopia pride ourselves in having extensive knowledge and expertise to be able to provide you with all year-round colour making the most of your garden.
When is the best time to plant?
The best time to plant a border is in the autumn or spring when the soil is warm and moist. This will offer the best conditions for the plants to root.
With borders we recommend balancing a variety of shrubs, grasses, perennials and evergreens to give the maximum effect. Gaps in borders can be filled in with bedding plants, flowers and bulbs. Bulbs can be really effective for the winter months when the garden can look rather dull. They are a very good way of producing an array of colour.
